Woman who stole £93,000 jailed for 2 years

A 48 year old Southampton woman has been jailed for two years. This is after having pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of her position.

Over a period of six years from 2013-2019, Paula Tribbeck, of Broadlands Road stole in excess of £93,000 from the charity where she’d worked for 27 years. She did this by making multiple transactions to her own account, using the names of the suppliers paid by the charity to cover her tracks.

It was in 2019 when an audit was being conducted that the activity came to light. She handed her notice in prior to a disciplinary hearing, before being arrested in June 2020.

Her 27 years working for Wessex Cancer Trust allowed her the opportunity to progress into a Managerial role with financial responsibilities. This gave her access to the systems and information required to fraudulently take what is an enormous sum.

Via a social media statement, DC Daryanne Ryan from Western Investigations said: “Tribbeck abused her position of authority to steal money which should have gone towards helping people experiencing the worst time of their lives.

“While she has shown remorse and wishes to repay the money she stole from the Trust, her selfish actions left the charity in a very difficult situation.

“I am glad we were able to bring Tribbeck to court to face justice and hope this reassures the community that we take fraud seriously.”
