Woman dies after being hit by an Audi

Emergency services were called to the scene of a collision last night.

The collision between a car and pedestrian was on Bitterne Road West. The road was closed in both directions between Bullar Road and Quayside Road, in the proximity of the BP Garage; the road has since reopened.

Sadly, it’s been confirmed that the female pedestrian, said to be in her 40s, has died. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. Our thoughts too are with the driver of the vehicle involved.

The vehicle was a black Audi A4 being driven by a 51 year old male. The lady was crossing the dual carriage way and was struck by the Audi at the junction of Rampart Road.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident. They’d also ask people to check for any dashcam footage if in the area at around 10pm yesterday, 2 May.
