Weston Shore Improvements – Let us know your thoughts.

Weston Shore improvements to take place during the spring/summer months.  The council have confirmed that the area will have the following work completed to help conserve and protect the popular waterside front.

  • Replacing path at east end of the parade which was washed away in Storm Eunice
  • Building a new sleeper wall to help preserve the coastline and prevent shingle from being washed up onto the path (part of a National Cycle Route) reducing the likelihood of future storms washing the footpath away
  • Taking out the cycle barriers at Abbey Hill/ Netley Castle, providing a better entrance to the park and an improved junction for park users
  • Upgrading the sleeper wall along the front car park
  • Carrying out surface and drainage work to Westwood car park as well as measures to prevent cars from driving onto the green space
  • Replacing worn out benches with new ones
  • Installing barriers to discourage unauthorised traveller encampments
  • The design and build of a rock armour revetment (medium sized rock boulders) to reduce coastal erosion at the west end of the park
  • New information boards explaining the purpose of the new sea defence structure and the importance of the shore to over-wintering birds and wildlife
  • Re-painting the art-deco shelters and removing the unused aluminium window frames

What a waste of money, the lowlife of Weston will just vandalise it all again. The shelters didn’t even last a year. The “beach” is is covered in grass/weeds/flies. The sea is filthy, brocken glass and dog mess all over the place. Save your money, Bournemouth beach is better anyway. Just my opinion.

I’m very pleased that some work is being done. It’s always welcome, but there is no mention of all the weeds growing on the pavement areas, around the children’s play area and around all the seating areas. The children’s play area in particular is an absolute embarrassment. Regular maintenence would be welcome.

  • Low life of Weston so all that live in Weston are low life disrespectful vandalising people. How judgmental are you. Do u have proof its people from Weston who vandalise thier local area ? If so please share and provide proof.?. !! I was brought up in Weston and I’m not low life scum as u stated. You have only shown yourself as judgement and narrow minded

I think it would be nice if there were some picnic tables where families could enjoy a lunch outing followed by a walk along the path.

if you look back at old pictures of the shoreline at weston it was a place to be enjoyed by many local residents so much could be done to it to restore it . ,, a fun fair and artificial beach would be a great start with a nice coffee shop and sandpit water jets for the kids and other play areas seating for visitors and elderly a sunday market just a few thoughts

More seating (some could be donated “in memorial” like in Royal Vic park). Upgraded childrens play area, but please no funfairs … Weston shore is a beautiful place to enjoy the natural environment. Priority for emptying rubbish/poo bins over weekends/bank holidays (they were overflowing on Monday). The pitch and putt coffee shop is good and sufficient…too many coffee shops=overcrowded parking, litter.

As an OAP it would be wonderful to have seats along the shore and if the grass was cut it would be a lovely place to have a picnic.
