Upcoming road closures in Woolston

In partnership with Southampton City Council, Balfour Beatty has announced that they’ll need to close two roads in the Woolston area.

The work taking place is the installation of height restriction signage. The positioning of the signs will be on the rail bridges on both Bridge Road and Sea Road.

The work on Bridge Road will take place overnight on Monday 6 June and again overnight on Tuesday 7 June. The section of road under the bridge will be closed from 8pm to 6am, although pedestrian access will remain during that time.

The works in Sea Road will take place during the day on Thursday 9 June and Friday 10 June. The section of road under the bridge will be fully closed between 8am and 6pm on each day.

Diversion signs will be in place whilst the work is being undertaken, but as always, dates are subject to change. If any amendments to the proposed plans are made known, we will look to update our information.

Those who live in and around the area are likely to experience some disruption, although every effort will be made to minimise this by the contractors on site. In the case of the overnight works on Bridge Road, the noisier work will be done at the start of the shift so as to reduce the risk of too much noise later at night and into the early hours.
