Two woman robbed by group of men with a knife

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on two females. One lady was in her 20s and the other in her 50s.

The assault took place late Tuesday/early Wednesday, (12:05-12:15am). It happened in the High Street in Shirley.

The two ladies were walking to their car, which was parked in Crown Street. As they neared the area, they were approached by five men, all wearing dark clothing, gloves and balaclavas; one was also carrying a knife.

The men threatened and assaulted the ladies before stealing several items. Among the items taken was jewellery including an engagement ring. The ladies suffered minor injuries during the incident, but clearly they will have been shaken up.

A statement from leading Investigator, DC Giulia Puccini said;

“Our officers are following up all lines of enquiry to identify the men involved.

While we continue to investigate this we would urge members of the public to make sure they do not display their valuables and remain vigilant at night in the Shirley area.”

If you were in the area and witnessed the incident, or if you saw five males acting suspiciously around the area at the time or shortly before/after, please call the police on 101. The incident number for this case is 44220206353.
