Two teens arrested after Brockenhurst burglary

Two teens were arrested in the early hours of this morning (11 July) for suspected burglary offences.

Following reports of a break in at a bike shop in Brockenhurst, police were called into action. It was alleged that two males had broken into the store, stolen two bicycles and then made off on a motorbike, with the stolen bicycles too, in the direction of Lyndhurst.

A motorbike matching the description was spotted, and an attempt was made to stop it. However, the rider and passenger abandoned the bike and a foot pursuit followed.

A 16 year old from Andover was arrested on suspicion of burglary. Another 16 year old, this time from Totton, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary. The Totton boy had tried initially, but unsuccessfully, to hide in an area of undergrowth near Ashurst campsite.

Both pushbikes were recovered and returned. The motorbike was also recovered and police are looking to reunite it with its rightful owner.
