Two men robbed at knifepoint

Police were alerted to an incident in Southampton city centre last night, and were quickly on the scene.

Just after 22:20, they received reports that two men had been threatened by another man in Above Bar. It was alleged that the man was carrying a knife and that he’d been successful with his demands for cigarettes and a lighter.

Police attended the scene, and shortly after, they arrested a 24 year old male on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a knife. He remains in custody.

This is another quick and successful response from the police, which should be applauded.  We can now only hope the courts understand the danger of people carrying knives in public and the correct punishment is handed out.

The Police really are keen to keep people safe at all times. This result reinforces that their efforts are worthwhile.

Remember, if you see anything suspicious, please report it via 101.  If it’s an emergency, call 999.
