Theft From Vehicle Overnight

Yesterday, we published a story about two females who had been seen trying car door handles in and around the Bishops Road area of Sholing.

Frustratingly, they were successful in gaining entry to at least one vehicle. Our aim of writing the story yesterday was to highlight that there are chancers out there trying to get ‘easy pickings’. It’s likely that these people aren’t on the scale of stealing cars, but instead, they want a quick, easy fix; and unlocked vehicles provides them with that. It can be just as damaging to be a victim of this type of crime.

Further to that, we know this morning that similar happened overnight in and around Sholing and Woolston. Again, entry to at least one vehicle was gained. This time, regrettably, the owner was stripped of a Dewalt battery drill and a pair of sunglasses.

Every day is a school day, and we live and learn by what we experience. So, please make sure you don’t leave valuables in your car/van overnight, and please double check that you’ve locked up. If you’re up late at night, have a quick look outside; that alone can be a good deterrant.

101 should be your first port of call to report crime, but you can always contact us anonymously if you’d like us to pass information on.
