Ten Arrested After Violent Disorder Between Southampton and Tottenham Fans

Ten people have been arrested following a violent disorder that broke out between Southampton and Tottenham football fans in Southampton on Saturday evening, (18 March).

Police were called to Terminus Terrace, at the junction with Oxford Street, after reports of disorder involving a number of people throwing tables, chairs, and glasses. A man was also assaulted in the incident.

The 61 year old man from Bursledon suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Detective Inspector Tim Judd said the incident would have been frightening for those who witnessed it and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

“We believe those involved had been to the Southampton FC Vs Tottenham Hotspur game at St Mary’s Stadium and were making their way out of the city when the incident occurred. We’d like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed what happened, may have footage of the incident filmed on their phones, or anyone who may have been driving passed and has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle. The ten individuals arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and other associated offenses are a 19 year old man from Haringey, a 19 year old from Southampton, a 22 year old, 23 year old, 25 year old, and 27 year old men from Waltham Cross, a 24 year old man from Hoddeson, a 24 year old man from Kings Lynn, a 31 year old man from Bournemouth, and a 33 year old man from London. All ten are currently in police custody.
