Teenagers intimidate local shoppers in Southampton Estate

Police today have put in place a Dispersal Zone around Millbrook Towers and the shops on Windermere Avenue.  This is due to police attending the area today and encountering a group of young people outside the shops who were being rude and intimidating towards locals using the shops.

The police encouraged the group to move on towards the park, where it is well lit and has benches, however the kids became rude and refused to leave.  Due to the situation, the police arrested one person and three others were given dispersal notices.

The parents of those dispersed supported the police, apart from one, who accused them of being heavy handed (the police have video evidence to confirm this to be untrue), lets hope the parents opinion changes quick in regards to the situation.

This group of teenagers, has caused intimidation, anxiety and fear to many of the people using the shops and passing through over the last few weeks.  Lets hope some point soon, these kids grow up and stop with this type of behaviour.

The Dispersal Zone is in place until 23:59 13  March 2022, any person already dispersed from the area who returns in this time will be arrested and prosecuted.  The police will be on patrol tomorrow and will disperse anyone from the area who is causing or is likely to cause anti-social behaviour.
