Teenager Assaulted on Bitterne Bus – Police Appeal for Witnesses

In a distressing incident on Friday, 10 November, a 17 year old boy fell victim to an assault while on the number 16 Bluestar bus in Bitterne. The assault occurred around 12:15pm when the bus made a stop at the West End Road car park.

It was said that another teenager, armed with a knife, boarded the bus during the stop. The armed teenager then approached the 17 year old victim, resulting in a physical altercation. The victim was punched in the face, and a scuffle ensued.

Fortunately, the victim did not sustain injuries from the knife, but he did suffer facial swelling. The assailant hastily left the bus, fleeing along Bitterne Road towards Bitterne Road West.

Prompt police response led to the arrest of a 16 year old boy from Portsmouth on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possession of a controlled drug of class B. The suspect is currently in police custody.
