SUV sought after near miss with police vehicle in Hythe

A road traffic incident that took place in Hythe on Friday, (10 February) has prompted police to launch an appeal for witnesses. According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 10pm when a car attempted to overtake another vehicle on Fawley Road and nearly collided with a police car driving in the opposite direction.

The police car quickly activated its emergency warning equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle involved, however, it drove away at high speed down Fawley Road towards the Hardley roundabout. Despite an extensive search, the car described as a dark coloured SUV-style vehicle, was not located.

As police continue their investigation to locate the vehicle involved, they are now turning to the public for assistance. They are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, witnessed the incident, or has information about a dark coloured vehicle driving at high speed to come forward. Additionally, they are also seeking dash cam footage that may aid in the investigation.
