Staff member at SO19 Tesco store assaulted

Police are appealing for help to identify a man following an assault that took place in Merryoak, SO19 just before Christmas.

The incident in question happened in Tesco Express, located on Spring Road. It was around 11pm on Friday 23 December.

A man is alleged to have asked to buy alcohol, but was with a younger man who was unable to produce ID. As a result, staff refused to serve the man.

It is further alleged that the man returned to the shop and assaulted a staff member by headbutting and punching him. The victim, in his 30s, suffered a cut lip and soreness to his head and chest.
