Southampton stabbing leaves man in serious condition

Police were called to Parsonage Road yesterday evening, shortly before 6pm. This was in relation to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address there.

Police attended, not only to ensure the safety of the man, but also others in the area.

Later that evening, the man, a 31 year old from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

You may recall the story we published early yesterday about the closure of London Road. Police have now confirmed that a man in his 30s had been stabbed; he was transferred to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

These two stories are linked in as much that the man arrested in Parsonage Road last night is the man suspected to be responsible for the stabbing in London Road in the morning.

The 31 year old man remains in police custody at this time and police investigations will continue.
