Southampton Police Seize Over 60 Weapons in September Crackdown

In a month-long operation, officers from the Southampton West Neighbourhood Policing Team have successfully confiscated over 60 weapons, averaging two weapons per day, in an effort to enhance community safety and reduce knife crime.

Throughout the month of September, local police collaborated with partner agencies, organised public amnesties, and conducted seizures on arrest to gather these weapons. The confiscated arsenal included a variety of dangerous items such as axes, hunting knives, lock knives, and butterfly knives.

The initiative, which has been applauded for its effectiveness in removing lethal weapons from the streets, underscores the commitment of the Southampton West Neighbourhood Policing Team to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities or weapons-related concerns to the police through the non-emergency number 101. Additionally, an online reporting tool is available on the police website, making it easy for community members to provide valuable information.

For those who wish to report knife crime anonymously, Crimestoppers offers a confidential option via their website or by calling 0800 555 111.

All confiscated weapons are now safely secured and await proper disposal, ensuring that they will never pose a threat to the community again.
