Saints Bought By Serbian Businessman?
Southampton FC are reportedly on the verge of finding a new owner.
Gao, who bought 80% of the club from the Liebherr family, have had a poor relationship with the fans. With zero communication and no investment made into the club, it’s not hard to see why.
The man pushing to complete a takeover at Saints is Serbian-born businessman Dragan Solak behind cable-TV operator United Group.
He will be buying a controlling stake in the club for a reported fee of £100 million.
The Liebherrs will keep there 20% stake in the club, Markus Liebherr managed to save from administration in 2009.
The plan is for Saints to become one of a number of clubs owned by the same group in a Red Bull-style multi-club system.
Meanwhile chief executive Martin Semmens is also expected to keep his position.
