Predator jailed after planning to meet 14 year old

A man from Smythe Road, SO19, has been jailed for 8 years. This follows some excellent work by officers at the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit.

The sentencing of Richard Baker, 50, was for historic child sex offences, as well as arranging via a messaging app, to have sex with a 14 year old girl. Thankfully, the girl was not real and Baker is now behind bars.

Police have provided a video showing some of the messages that were sent. The video also includes other guidance too. They say that these show the tactics a sexual predator will use to win a child’s trust via social media. Police went on to advise people to have a chat with children about online safety so they know they can come to you for advice if they need it.
