Police stop man on bike using Stinger

Police were out and about in the early hours of this morning, and their presence resulted in an arrest being made.

A 31 year old male was arrested for multiple driving offences. This comes after he was spotted riding an electric bike recklessly around the area of Itchen Bridge.

The 31 year old was riding at high speed, both on and off the road. The bike had no plates on, nor any lights. 

His attempts to evade the police came to a stop when officers from the Roads Policing Unit activated their stinger to puncture the bike tyres.

We don’t often hear or read about the use of stingers. However, it seems to have done the job on this occasion. What do you think of this tactic? Should it be used more?
