Police pursuit – man arrested on suspicion of multiple offences

Acting on intel, police stopped a car in Hardwicke Close yesterday afternoon. This was despite attempts by the driver to evade them when they initially tried to stop him in Wimpson Lane.

The car was seized, as was a large pickaxe and drill, which were both in the back of the car. The driver, a 24 year old Southampton man was duly arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, as follows;

Dangerous driving

Theft of a motor vehicle

Failing to stop for police

Going equipped for burglary

Using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance

Burglary dwelling and theft

Assault occasioning actual bodily harm

Burglary dwelling – with intent to steal.

With a list as long as that, you may not be surprised to learn that he remains in custody.
