Police in Winchester Arrest Driver for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

In a recent incident, officers from the Winchester City Neighbourhood Policing Team stopped a vehicle just outside the city centre on suspicion that the driver may be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They quickly put the driver to a breath test, which showed that the driver had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

The legal limit for blood alcohol concentration in the UK is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. Shockingly, the driver blew 80 at the roadside, which is more than double the legal limit. The police swiftly arrested the driver and took them into custody.

The Winchester City Neighbourhood Policing Team has stated that it takes these offences extremely seriously and will always take robust action against those who choose to endanger their own lives and the lives of others by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The police are urging members of the public to report any concerns about individuals who could be driving under the influence to them immediately. The public can report such incidents by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can have devastating consequences, not just for the driver but for all road users and pedestrians. It is therefore essential that everyone takes responsibility for their actions on the road and avoids driving while impaired.
