Police confiscate Salads bike

We’ve seen a lot of comments and posts about ASB involving motorcycles in the Sholing area of SO19. It’s almost daily that a salad is riding a bike illegally around the area. There were many discussions about it at the last PACT meeting, with the police making it one of their priorities for this quarter.

The police yesterday managed to catch one of these salads riding down Orpen Road. He’d been reported for driving without a license, and with no insurance. The usual punishment for such crimes is a fine, penalty points and a driving ban.

Without a license anyway, it can seem odd to present someone with a ban. However, there is some logic behind it.

The sentence for driving whilst disqualified is a lot higher, so the salad has a choice; stop or face possible custodial sentences the next time.

If you have any information in relation to vehicle crime and vehicle nuisance and those responsible, report it via 101, email via the Hampshire Constabulary website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. The more information we can provide, the more the police can do to combat it.
