Police arrest 29 Year Old man with GBH with intent

Police have arrested a 29 year old Southampton man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

This comes after an investigation into an incident that took place just before 10pm on Wednesday, 2 March.  A man in his 50s was crossing Civic Centre Road, at the junction with Havelock Road, with a group of people, after attending the FA Cup match between Southampton and West Ham.

It is said that a black Skoda collided with the man, and continued without stopping in the direction of Cumberland Place.

The victim received serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The 29 year old male has been released under investigation whilst enquiries into the incident continue. The police are now asking for any further witnesses to come forward with information.

Did you attend that game and travel back in the vicinity of Havelock Road? Do you perhaps have any dashcam footage that may have captured the incident?

Any information should be passed to the police via 101, quoting 44220085753.
