Police Appeal for Witnesses After Serious Assault Outside Southampton Pub

Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault outside a local pub on Wednesday night (15 March).

According to reports, officers were called to The Hinkler on Hinkler Road in the Thornhill area at around 8:30pm after receiving reports of an altercation between a group of people. The incident resulted in a man in his thirties receiving serious injuries.

A 41 year old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class B drug. He remains in police custody at this time.

However, police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Detective Sergeant Ross Rolph has urged anyone who may have recorded the incident on their mobile phone to come forward as they may hold vital information.

“We are particularly keen to speak to those witnesses, as they may hold vital information which can help aid our investigation,” said Rolph.

“If you were in the vicinity of where the incident took place last night, please come forward, we would like to hear from you. No matter how small, or insignificant you think, the information you have – this may prove fruitful in establishing the exact circumstances of the incident.”
