Man who travelled from Nottingham to Southampton to meet an 11 year old jailed

A 48 year old man was jailed last week after pleading guilty at Southampton Crown Court for child sex offences.

Leading up to his initial arrest on 17 May, the man had been conversing online with what he believed to be an 11 year old child. In fact, it was specialist officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

The man travelled from his home in Nottinghamshire all the way to Southampton to sexually abuse the child. Instead, he was met by officers and detained.

When searched, he had in his possession sweets, condoms, lubricant, wet wipes and baby oil. Thankfully, no children were involved during the operation.

In court, Daniel Castel-Nuovo was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. Further, he was issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.  His family were also in court to witness the sentencing.

If anything, this serves as a reminder to be vigilant of who children are online with. Any suspicious activity should always be reported at the earliest opportunity.
