Man jailed following a number of thefts

A man from Dibden Purlieu has been jailed after being found guilty of a number of thefts in the Waterside area.

Lee Barnes, 39 years old, of no fixed abode had previously failed to attend his court hearings.  This led to two warrants being issued for his arrest.

On 30 August, he was arrested, appearing before West Hampshire Magistrates Court on 31 August.  He was found guilty of a number of theft offences and breaching his community behaviour order which resulted in him being sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment.

This result is off the back of a lot of good work from the police via their Shopwatch scheme.

Police Sergeant Brown of the Waterside team said “It’s hoped this court result will act as a deterrent to other thieves targeting local businesses and encourage those not in the Shopwatch scheme to join up.”
