Man charged after sexual assault in Southampton park

A 23 year old man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault in a Southampton park. Arifullah Khan of Lumpy Lane, Southampton, has been charged with sexual assault after a 19 year old woman reported being assaulted in Hoglands Park at around 1.30am on Saturday (11 March).

According to reports, Khan approached the woman and engaged her in conversation before assaulting her over her clothing. The woman reported the incident to the police, who have been investigating several lines of inquiry since the incident took place.

Khan has been remanded in custody and was due to appear in court on Friday, 17 March.
