Man caught breaking into van with large pole

Police executed an arrest this morning following reports made by the public.

Shortly before 1am, Police were called to the area of Dorset Street, which links The Avenue to the Jury’s Inn roundabout. Reports were of a man attempting to break into a van using a large pole.

On arrival at the scene, the man had managed to gain access to the back of the van. They duly arrested the 34 year old male on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

The pole was seized and the man remains in custody at this time.
