Man arrested after high speed car chase

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man failed to stop for officers in West End yesterday (25 March), resulting in a dangerous driving incident.

The patrolling officers had made an attempt to stop a grey Citreon Xsara at around 5:30pm on Allington Lane, near the M27 motorway bridge. However, the driver failed to stop and made off at high speed, driving dangerously and even crossing to the opposite side of the carriageway.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in Burnetts Field, and after a thorough investigation, a 49 year old man from Hedge End was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, driving without insurance, failing to stop, dangerous driving, and theft of a motor vehicle. He is currently in police custody.

The police are now requesting anyone who witnessed the driving incident or has dash-cam footage to come forward and assist in their investigation. Those with information can call 101 or submit information via the police website with reference number 44230119234. Alternatively, individuals can contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.

This incident highlights the danger that reckless driving poses to the public and the importance of following traffic laws. The police urge anyone who may have information about this incident to come forward and help them ensure that justice is served.
