‘Hero’ police save elderly man who had fallen

This afternoon (8 March) in Winchester, two police officers are being hailed as heroes after they saved the life of an elderly man who had fallen in his home and was unable to call for help.

PCSO Window and PC Harries were on patrol in the area when they received a call from a concerned neighbour who had not seen the elderly gentleman in several days. The neighbour had grown increasingly worried and alerted the police.

The officers quickly responded to the call and went to the elderly man’s property. After several attempts to make contact with him, they decided to gain access to the property to check on him. Once inside, they found the gentleman on the floor, having fallen some time earlier and unable to call for help.

The officers immediately called for medical assistance and waited with the gentleman until the paramedics arrived. The elderly man was then taken to the hospital, where he is receiving the care he needs.

It is believed that the quick thinking and decisive action of the officers saved the man’s life. The neighbour who alerted them was also rightly praised for their concern and for taking action to ensure the safety and well-being of their community.

In a statement, the police highlighted the importance of looking out for neighbours, especially those who may be vulnerable and isolated. They also praised the work of their officers and the positive impact they have in the community.

This uplifting story is a reminder of the power of community and the importance of kindness and care. It serves as a testament to the dedication and commitment of police and the difference they can make in people’s lives.
