Hammer gang raid petrol station

In the early hours of yesterday morning, (8 May), police received reports of males entering an Esso garage on Ringwood Road armed with a hammer.

The gang reportedly left the store after stealing cigarettes and tobacco. Staff were able to provide descriptions to the police.

The police later stopped four people on Junction Road, and three of the four were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The police are still investigating the incident and are following a number of enquiries.

Two 16 year old males, one from Eastleigh and the other Fareham, and an 18 year old male from Totton have been released under investigation.

The police believe that the incident may be linked to other burglaries in the town centre at similar times. They’re  continuing to look into all of these incidents.
