Five arrested in connection with spate of burglaries in Chandlers Ford overnight

Police in Chandler’s Ford have arrested five individuals in connection with a series of burglaries that took place overnight. The arrests were made after officers were called to The Copse at 4:20am this morning (1 March) following reports that a vehicle had been stolen. Upon arrival, the police discovered that the burglar had entered the property and stolen the key, before making off with the Vauxhall Mokka car.

The police later located the vehicle on Cedar Road in Southampton, where the occupants fled on foot after being spotted by officers. Following a short pursuit, a 19 year old man from Eastleigh, a 19 year old man from Southampton, an 18 year old man from Southampton, an 18 year old man of no fixed abode, and a 17 year old boy from Southampton were apprehended in connection with a number of incidents that had occurred overnight.

These incidents included:

–  A burglary at an address on The Copse, where the Vauxhall Mokka and keys to another vehicle were stolen

– An attempted burglary at another address on The Copse 

– An attempted burglary on Oakmount Road

– A burglary on Mead Road, where a handbag was stolen.

The 19 year old man from Southampton was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and failing to provide a specimen of breath.

All five individuals remain in police custody at this time, and investigations into the burglaries are ongoing. The police have urged anyone with information about the incidents to come forward and assist with their enquiries. They have also reminded local residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
