Firefighters Battle a Formidable Blaze on Hamble Lane

In a concerted effort, around 60 firefighters are currently on the front lines, tackling a formidable blaze that has engulfed a building on Hamble Lane’s high street.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) Control Room sprang into action after receiving approximately 20 emergency calls reporting the fire shortly before 6pm. Crews from various locations, including Hamble, Hightown, Botley, St Mary’s, Redbridge, Fareham, Eastleigh, and Portchester, swiftly mobilised to the scene.

The building, identified as a garage, was already well alight upon the arrival of the first responders. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries. The skilled firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, are employing an arsenal of resources, including aerial ladders, water carriers, and a specialist environment protection vehicle, to prevent the blaze from spreading. Hose reels and jets are being utilised in their efforts.

Despite the challenges posed by the fire, the fire service expect to scale down the incident, with four fire engines anticipated to remain on the scene throughout the night. Hamble Lane has been temporarily closed, and residents are advised to use Satchell Lane as an alternative route.

The community remains in the thoughts of emergency responders as they work to bring the situation under control.
