Ferry staff assaulted by group of youths

On Monday night, 29 August, staff working on Hythe Ferry were physically and verbally assaulted by a group of youths.

The company were running two late night boats from Town Quay when a group of youths were found sitting on the pier train.  Staff asked them to leave, which resulted in the youths hurling abuse.  At one point alcoholic drinks were thrown over/at the staff members.

The pier, train and ferry is private property. Therefore, anyone caught trespassing can be prosecuted.

CCTV captured these pics of the culprits. Do you recognise them? If so, please contact the police on 101 with any information.

We hope the staff aren’t too distressed following this incident.
