Fatal collision on Marchwood Bypass leads to police appeal for witnesses

An unplanned road closure was in place for some hours yesterday evening, and we shared this information via our Facebook page at the time. Police have now confirmed the seriousness of the incident, and have put out an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Sadly, there was a fatal collision on the A326 Marchwood by-pass. Specifically, it was close to Marchwood Priory. The incident involved two vehicles and a pedestrian.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a VW Transporter, and a Susuki Swift. The pedestrian, a 68 year old man from Salisbury very sadly died. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported.

The incident itself happened at around 6:50pm, and the road closure was in place for some five hours. If you were in the area at the time and saw anything, or if you have dash-cam footage that could help with the ongoing investigation, please report it.

Any information should be passed to the police via 101, quoting 44230091581.

Our thoughts are with all involved, and with the family and friends of the man who passed away.
