Elderly Man Injured in Bus Stop Assault in Winchester

An 89 year old man suffered a head injury after an assault at a bus stop in St Cross Road, Winchester, near the junction with Romans Road. The police responded to a call from ambulance colleagues at 3.52pm on Thursday, 16 November. 

According to reports, the elderly man was pushed to the ground, prompting his hospitalisation. As of now, he is in stable condition, recovering from the incident.

The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault. An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent in connection to the incident. Although released from custody, he remains under investigation as enquiries progress.

Police are reaching out to the public for any information that may aid in the investigation. Witnesses to the incident or individuals with possible Dash Cam footage capturing the event or events leading up to it are encouraged to come forward.
