Cyclist assaults 80 year old pedestrian

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 80 year old man was pushed to the ground and kicked on Monday evening.

It’s reported that the man was walking along Burgess Road towards the Common, near the junction with Sherwood Close. A cyclist sped closely by him, and when the gentleman suggested to the cyclist that he should be on the road, the cyclist proceeded to assault the poor man.

The incident is said to have happened around 7pm on Monday, 25 April. The cyclist fled the scene via Sherwood Close and Pointout Road. The 80 year old victim was left and later treated for cuts and bruises.

The cyclist is described as being white, medium build and aged 30-40. He was around 5’10 with strawberry blonde/ginger hair in a pony tail. He was wearing a white t-shirt, carrying a backpack, and there were also bags hanging from the handle bars.

If you were in the area and witnessed anything, or were in the area and have any dashcam footage, please let the police know. Information can be passed via 101, or online. The reference number to quote is 44220161920.
