Charity appeal for help
Hamwic Street Kitchen is a charitable organisation with an aim to prevent and relieve poverty for all in Southampton. Their work is done throughout the year, but as the festive season approaches, they are looking for support and donations.
On a Tuesday and Thursday evening, food and clothing is provided to the homeless in the city. With things the way they are at the moment, it’ll probably come as no surprise that they’ve seen an increase in people turning to them for help.
At this time of year, the charity continue with their efforts, but also step things up a bit with an aim to be able to provide those in need with a ‘Christmas Box’ filled with useful things. It’s with that in mind that they approached us to see if we could help spread the word; of course, we are happy to oblige.
Some of the items being sought are below, although this list is not exhaustive;
Shoe boxes, underwear, gloves, pocket size puzzle/note books, pens, combs/brushes, disposable razors, shaving gel/foam, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand cream, body spray, chocolates/sweets.
The charity does have its own social media page, https://www.facebook.com/HamwicStreetKitchen/, so if you’re interested in finding out more, or are able to help in any way, please refer to the page and contact them directly. Donation drop off points are available, and this can be discussed if you’re able to help.
