Brazen Theft Strikes Sholing Community: Distinctive Hedge Plants Stolen

In a shocking event that transpired between midnight and 8am this morning, Wednesday, 3 January, residents in the Worcester Place/Bramley Crescent area of Sholing woke up to discover a daring theft targeting their greenery. A total of 36 leylandii hedge plants, ranging from 175cm to 200cm in height, were stolen from a local garden, leaving homeowners both perplexed and concerned.

What sets these stolen plants apart is the distinctive red paint that adorns both the base and middle of each tree, providing a unique identifier for anyone who comes across them. The plants were equipped with canes, and 5ft chestnut stakes accompanied them, adding to the distinctiveness of the haul.

The greenery targeted wasn’t limited to leylandii alone; two 5ft holy trees, meticulously shaped into round ball/lollipop formations, were also part of this audacious theft.

The police have been informed, and the rightful owners are actively urging residents in the vicinity to check any surveillance camera footage they may possess for potential leads.

The hope is that the unique features of the stolen red-painted leylandii hedge plants and the distinctively shaped holy trees will make it challenging for the thieves to easily conceal or sell their ill-gotten gains.
