Drug arrests across the city

This week has seen the police very active with drug related crime, and a number of arrests have been made, notably one in Woolston, which we reported on earlier in the week. In that instance, they were able to seize class A drugs with a value of tens of thousands of pounds.

The actions of the police were  not limited to that one arrest. Across the city, working with other teams, more drugs, and importantly those involved in the supply chain, were halted.

When people think of drugs and police taking action against suppliers or users, it’s often claimed that they’re wasting their time on such menial or trivial things. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The ‘chain’ of drug supply and use is quite complex and involves a number of parties. Often (not always), ‘dealers’ are perhaps those who have been targeted because they’re vulnerable and/or they’ve been forced into doing what they’re doing; feeling like they have no choice. Similarly, children or young adults may have been coerced into that kind of activity. What is certain though is that drugs being on the street does lead to other criminal and antisocial behaviour.

Clearly, the police cannot be everywhere, all the time.  So, it’s vitally important that the general public are aware and observant. Furthermore, it’s imperative that people report things that don’t appear right.

We’ve included some links to useful information supplied by the police. If more people work collaboratively, it can only serve to help.
