Bin Collections cancelled and School Closures – 18 February

No Bin Collections and School Closures tomorrow (Friday 18 February).

Due to the MET office weather warning of imminent risk of potential injury or danger to life by Storm Eunice, all bin collections in Southampton have been postponed tomorrow.

You are advised not to leave your bins out overnight as they are likely to be blown over/away.  This covers all collection rounds (Household waste, garden waste, glass recycling, commercial trade waste, large bins used in blocks of flats and paid for bulky waste collections.

The council have taken this decision due to the risk posed to the public and its employees, from flying debris, falling trees and branches and the dangers of loading and unloading bins in very strong winds.

At this time, there is no date of collection for those impacted however, there will be more information provided by the council in due course on catch up collections.  There will be no catch up collections for glass recycling, they ask that you keep your glass recycling for the next scheduled collection.

Schools will be impacted by the weather and ALL schools in Southampton have announced they are closing tomorrow.
