Two arrested for burglary

News in this afternoon from our local policing team. This relates to an incident that occurred last week in SO16. See the below, which was posted to their Facebook followers:

“Two people have been arrested following a burglary in Southampton.

At 3.34am on Thursday we attended a break in at a property in King Georges Avenue.

The back door had been broken into and a £500 watch and car keys were among items stolen. The car they belong to was not taken.

Officers conducted enquiries and on the same day a 27-year-old woman from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, possessing a Class A drug and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

A 30-year-old man from Southampton was also arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal.

Both were bailed until 3 March while enquiries continue.

Insp Sarah Nicholson, of the Southampton West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We know burglaries are a real concern in the community so we hope this sends out a strong message that we take the issue seriously and will bring offenders to justice.”

So much can be heard and read about how poor our police force is. However, what we’ve seen of late is that they are out there and doing their best. To see these ‘wins’ is satisfying, and we’d certainly like to see see more of them; perhaps these posts  and stories can help change the perceptions of some.“
