License plate theft – have you also been a victim?

It’s been reported to us that number plates were removed from a van belonging to an SO19 resident. The van is a Silver, Ford Transit Custom, Registration HV69 EPE.

The van was last used on Sunday 16 January, early afternoon. It was then parked up in Ellwood Avenue where it remained until the Monday morning, when the owner went to use it for work. It was then that he realised the theft of the plates had taken place, and the police were alerted.

Reporting the issue to the police was naturally the right thing to do. However, this has come to no avail and the whereabouts of the plates remains a mystery.

Without more information or evidence, we can only speculate what the motive could have been. We think it more likely than not that the plates would have been placed onto another vehicle. Again though, this is just speculation.
