VOTE – For police priorities in SO19

With the upcoming Police and Community Together (PACT) meetings coming up, we wanted to hear what you wanted the Police to focus on.

Details of the meetings are:

Sholing, Bitterne and Thornhill
26 January
18:45
Hightown Fire Station.

Peartree, Weston and Woolston
8 February
18:45
Weston Court.

At each meeting, the police go through the crime statistics for the previous 3 months.  At the end of the meeting, the community and the police then agree on the three main areas of focus for the next 3 months.

We appreciate that not everyone will be able to attend. So here’s your chance to tell us what you think the three priorities should be.

Please use the options below and select your top three. We will make sure that the most popular ones are those that get highlighted at the meetings. If you want to highlight an area not included in the poll, let us know in the comment section further down.

Hi, I’d like to ask if the police could undertake some enforcement of the 7.5t weight restriction on Thornhill Park Rd. There has for the past 6mths at least been a steady increase of hgv’s, in particular fully loaded lorries carrying ballast & cement cutting through the weight restriction located between Bitterne Rd east & kane’s hill rbt. The legal Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) only permits vehicles over 7.5t to use the route if it’s destination is within the restriction, not to use as a route through. I’ve witnessed hgv’s weighing 30t + pass school children waiting at the pedestrian crossings which travel down to the building sites in Botley. I do take photos and speak to companies, TJ Waste were excellent & apologetic but others are v difficult. Just as a note I am a Senior Traffic & Network Engineer (13 yrs at SCC & 9yrs at PCC) so am an expert in legal TRO’s, traffic signal jct design, major traffic flow on the network etc so can assist in anyway required with this or other issues.
