Proactive Police Work Leads to Four Arrests in Drug Related Offenses in Portswood

Some proactive police work resulted in four arrests earlier this month; all were for drug related offences in and around the Portswood area.

The first incident was mid-morning on 1 March in Westwood Road. Police witnessed some suspicious activity, which led them to search a 36 year old man.

The search revealed that the man was carrying a large quantity of cash, together with several wraps of a substance, concealed in a fake battery.

The items were seized, and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. He has since been released, but remains under investigation.

The second incident happened just a few hours later when police spotted and searched a man found to be in an alleyway near Lodge Road.

Once again, a wrap with an unknown substance was found in his possession. Furthermore, this led police to search an address on the same road, where a large quantity of cash and more drugs were found.

As a result of the above, a 37 year old man from Marchwood and a 47 year old man from the City were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug. A third person, a 40.year old female from the City, was also arrested on  suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. Again, all three were bailed pending further enquiries being made.
