Two men arrested in Southampton for theft of bicycles

Southampton police have arrested two men in connection with the theft of bicycles in the early hours of this morning (1 March).

The police were alerted to the crime at 2:26amwhen a report was made that two bikes had been stolen from a balcony in East Street, using a large ladder.

Officers quickly responded to the call and within an hour, two arrests were made. The first arrest took place in Bernard Street, while the second arrest was made in Eastgate Street.

The stolen bikes were successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owner.

A 26 year old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of theft of a pedal cycle and going equipped for theft. Meanwhile, an 18 year old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of theft of a pedal cycle, going equipped for theft and possession of a class B drug.

Both suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.
