Local man stabbed to death named by the police

The community of Thornhill was rocked by news of a murder investigation following the death of 64 year old Mark Noke, who was found with a stab wound to his chest at his home on Warburton Road in Thornhill early on Saturday morning.

The police arrived on the scene at 1:08amafter being alerted to the incident. Despite their best efforts, Mr Noke was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since then, the police have arrested three men on suspicion of murder. All three men remain in police custody while the investigation continues.

The family of Mark Noke has expressed their heartbreak at his loss, describing him as a “kind and loving” person who touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, and generosity. His family stated that Mark had a gift for making people feel seen and heard, and that his passing had left a void not just in their lives, but in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Superintendent Philip Lamb confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, with a large team in place to follow up on multiple leads. The police have set up a mobile station in Warburton Road to reassure local residents, and have increased patrols in the area.

The police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, including witnesses or anyone who may have CCTV footage. They have urged the public to contact them on 101, via their website, or to report any information anonymously through the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
