Two police cars vandalised while responding to call outs

Occasionally, the actions of some individuals raise serious questions over their demeanour and/or intelligence levels. It would be wrong of us to write stating that all the time, but in this case, we think it apt.

Yesterday evening, 23 January, two incidents happened in the Millbrook area. The impact clearly wasn’t something that factored in the mind or minds of those responsible.

Soon after 6pm, police were responding to a call, and left their car parked in Evonlode Road. In the time the police were away, someone or some people took it upon themselves to use a brick and damage the windscreen and the driver’s window.

In a second incident, just after 8pm, damage was caused to another patrol car. This was near to the shops on Windermere Avenue, and this time, footprints were found to be on the bonnet of the car, and the windscreen was also smashed.

It doesn’t need to be said that the police respond to a number of incidents, some more serious than others. They can’t disclose what they were attending at the time of these incidents, but have urged people to think a little more before carrying out such acts.

These cars will now be off the road for repair, which will result in a lesser ability to attend other incidents. Such incidents could involve burglary, assault, concern for welfare, among many other things. Any delayed response really could put lives at risk; perhaps even one of the culprits friends or family member may be in need of assistance.

Please spread the word and if you are aware of ‘kids’ who may have been responsible for this, please also offer a little more education on the real risks and implications.
