Man jailed after attacking sisters boyfriend

Joe Slack was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent after an attack on his sister’s boyfriend.

Slack, who has a history of mental health issues and previous convictions for using weapons, had been drinking and was agitated when he arrived at his sister’s home in Queensway, Southampton.

He began asking if they knew anyone he could rob, an argument ensued and spilled out onto the street. At this point his sister called her parents for help.

Slack then attacked his sister’s partner with a knife, causing a serious injury that required stitches. He fled the scene but was arrested nearby.

At his sentencing, the judge described Slack, of Christchurch Road, Bournemouth. As a “disturbed young man” who posed a danger to society.
