Rolex stolen at knife point after being advertised for sale on social media

We published a story earlier today warning people about the risks of selling items online. Further to that, we wanted to share another story to give a little context behind the guidance, with one such example of someone being taken advantage of; in what must have been awful circumstances.

Back on 6 September, a female responded to an advert, and showed interest in buying a Rolex watch. The watch was being sold by a gentleman in Park Gate via ‘Marketplace’.

The female indicated that she’d be at the man’s property 15 minutes later to complete the sale. At around 8pm that same day, a female, accompanied by a male, arrived at the man’s address and initial signs were that the sale would genuinely take place. However, things soon changed, when the man accompanying the lady produced a knife and threatened the seller of the watch. The pair then made off with the watch, without handing over any payment.

Clearly this would have been shocking for the victim. This is further compounded by the fact that he was going to use the proceeds of the sale to pay for private medical care.

Police have since put out an appeal to help find the watch, and those responsible for the theft. The watch is described as being a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, with a white gold fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet, pictured.

If anyone does have information that could help police with their enquiries queries, this should be provided online, or by calling 101. The crime reference number to quote is 44220364146.
