Another Van Targeted For Theft

When it comes to Salads, locally and generally everywhere, it seems they’ve taken to targeting vans this Christmas. Well, judging by the number of reported cases just to us, there’s certainly a rising trend.

We reported about a stolen van yesterday, which you can read about by clicking on the following link;

Further to that though, these salads don’t appear to be content with just one van or vehicle.

Reports have come in this morning regarding another attempted van theft overnight. Thankfully, they were deterred by something or someone and so nothing was taken this time. It was local though, with the van having been parked near The Range, Thornhill. As we’ve said, they didn’t manage to get away with anything, which although is a little silver lining, but it does serve as an apt reminder to do all you can to prevent thefts.

Please find below some useful tips to help against car/van theft:

1. LOCK YOUR DOORS

Keeping your doors locked is the first step in deterring a thief. It’s good to get into the habit of checking and double checking your doors (many will already relate to doing that routinely)

2. REMOVE YOUR KEYS FROM THE VEHICLE

Never leave your keys in the ignition. Leaving them gives any chancers an easy option.

3. CLOSE THE WINDOWS

Keep your windows closed completely. Keeping air flowing through the vehicle is less important than the security of the vehicle itself.

4. PARK IN WELL-LIT AREAS

Avoid parking in areas that are poorly lit or places that are not immediately seen by passers-by. This way, there’s more chance of others being able to look out for your car or van.

5. DON’T LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR

One way to attract a thief is to leave a purse, mobile phone or another high-value item in a highly visible area of your car. If things do need to stay in the car, which we’d really discourage, at least put it out of sight.

As we always say, there is more we can do to prevent successful thefts; make sure you do your bit.
